Dr. Charles Nilon shares how Packback is encouraging students to cite sources and therefore increasing student engagement in discussion

Dr. Charles Nilon is not only impressed with the level of engagement his students have shown in their Packback discussions, but he’s also been pleasantly surprised by the number and quality of sources students have incorporated into their discussion posts.

“I’ve found that Packback has helped my students really engage in discussion,” says Dr. Nilon. “[Packback also encourages students] to use sources. I think that’s something I’ve really been surprised in.”

“[Because Packback is encouraging students to cite sources] students do go out and find papers to support the topics that they’re interested in. They’re able to kind of build off of my initial questions, and I’ve found that it’s been a way that they’ve engaged a lot more in discussion with each other and in a way…they really don’t do in class.”
