To Dr. Brekhus’ pleasant surprise, not only were students having more thought-provoking conversations, but he also saw an improvement in their test scores, and his class attendance is at 90%. “I’ve noticed much fewer low scores on the first test, which, this is a mostly first-year student class, so a lot of semesters, we’ll have a number of Ds and Fs on the first test,” explains Dr. Brehus. “And I think there have been fewer of those because people are seeing at least the topics discussed some on Packback, so they’re thinking more about them.” INSTITUTION University of Missouri Columbia DEPARTMENT Sociology COURSE Introduction of Sociology SIZE 265 Students “I also like the variety of questions that the students ask. So some, and I think what Packback is really interested in, [are] those detailed critical thinking questions that get those high Curiosity Scores. And those are my favorite as well… It’s really added to the enthusiasm in the classroom and certainly to the attendance in my class.
