With Packback, Dr. Robert Mackin spends less time moderating discussion and more time engaging with students
Dr. Robert Mackin used LMS discussion in his sociology course but spent the majority of his time moderating posts for plagiarism and making sure his students were having civil conversations. He decided to make the switch to Packback because the system has a set of Community Guidelines that each student must follow to have their post published. Packback enforces these guidelines with artificial intelligence along with human moderators, so now, Dr. Mackin can spend less time moderating for plagiarism and more time encouraging exemplary posts from his students.

“This is my second semester using Packback, and I’ve just been thrilled with the results. In the past, my LMS had discussions, but it was a lot of work for me and the TAs to moderate, to check for plagiarism, to check for civility. And with Packback, those hours spent addressing those concerns are basically nothing. Instead, we get to focus on what we really care about, which are the ideas and rewarding good work and bringing and featuring those posts to others, which just facilitates great conversations on Packback. We couldn’t be happier.”
